Proverbs 15:30 The light of the eyes rejoices the heart: …
Joy is something that the whole world seeks after. Sometimes we look for it in the wrong place, and therefore, we often come up empty-hearted. However, in this particular verse Solomon gives us a key. He says that joy is found in the light of the eyes. We get the greatest joy not in what we see, but how we see things. This light of the eyes is called having a good perception of life. Whether we see the glass half empty or half full, life exposes all of us to both the good and the bad.
Our perception is based on our reaction to the situation and our decision concerning how we will live the future based on each individual circumstance. People can lie about us, cut us off in traffic, snub us, and do many hurtful things, but ultimately we chose how we react in these situations. Don’t let anything contaminate your joy. Don’t let people steal your hopeful and optimistic outlook on life. After all, it is your life! It is wisdom to ignore that which dims the light of the eyes and steals its rose colored glasses through which it views the joys of living.
